We would like to thank the following Adelaide Artists for contributing to the DV SnapShots Conference Program:
Alex Hoskings This is just the beginning for Australian singer songwriter Alex Hosking, working hard off the back of her successful debut album ‘WISH’.The single, Wish on a Star was immediately aired on radio, with requests for interviews. And subsequent song Puppet has had airplay on radio stations nationally. Her current achievement is being awarded as a semi – finalist for 2013 International Songwriting Competition ahead of over 20,000 entrants, competing with the world’s talent including Aussie, Guy Sebastian and Grammy Winner Kimbra, suggests that Alex’s sheer talent as a performer is outstripped only by the genius of her writing. In addition to this, Alex recently became runner up to competition discover13 which has gifted her recording opportunities and performances. “My mind is a circus and my heart is open”, is how Alex describes what is behind her prolific songwriting, which started when she was just ten years old. Live performances commenced almost simultaneously. USA Mondo tunes describe Alex’s partly pop and partly indy rock music with having a “Sheryl Crow attitude and a Tori Amos heart.” At the 2011 Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Alex caught the eye of charismatic entertainer David Campbell who mentored Alex to open his showwith her original song ‘Different Light’. The show, High School Cabaret, was quotedas “one of the most popular and exciting shows” of the AdelaideCabaret. Alex continues to write pop and indie rock influenced by a strong singer songwriter base, which showcases her versatility and creativity. Shehas just entered her twenties, and already successfully supporting known artists Shannon Noll, James Reyneand co-writing with international DJ’s, Bonnie Anderson, Celia Pavey and Karise Eden to name but a few. Alex is ready to take on the nation, but most importantly and what’s most appealing, she is authentic. Alex is currently available for duo performances and is looking for residencies where she can bring his infectious blend of pop and indie rock to your venue and assist in growing your clientele. |

Sarah starred as Mary Magdalene in Gilbert and Sullivan’s production of Jesus Christ Super Star. In 2012 she entered into Australia’s highest rating televised talent competition The Voice, and made it to the top 24 where she was controversially knocked out in the Battle Rounds. A few months later, she was enrolled in ETI music school and from there she seem to flourish! |

3’s Company M T V(Movement / Theatre / Voice) is an organization which aims to make aspects of the performing arts accessible to people and communities in vulnerable and isolated situations. Through their three distinct companies Lisa Lanzi, Alan Hendry and Angela Sharp offer a range of experiences in Movement, Theatre and Voice. BodyMAP is a dance company for those over 50 years who may have retired from a professional dance career and those members of the general community who would like to renew an interest in dance or be mentored and up-skilled to develop new talents and to perform in new works. Vintage Theatre Co-op gives those over 50 years an opportunity to work alongside older professional actors in training and performance opportunities thereby gaining or furthering skills in theatre arts. BodySONG is an artistic partnership currently running 8 diverse and exciting singing groups across Adelaide for those who may not ‘fit’ as easily into the culture of a more mainstream choir. Members of these groups include those with physical frailty, dementia, mental health issues, those affected by homelessness or women in prison. One area we excel in as experienced Theatre and Physical Theatre makers is that of Site specific / subject responsive intimate installation pieces for events, conferences and forums. For DV Snapshots we have prepared an experiential installation where the audience traverses the work in small groups to view fictional, dramatic scenarios which elicit a personal response from the viewer. Do you want to make a dramatic impact at your next event .. why not consider an installation piece from our team of talented artists.
